Ahh, Valentine’s day. Whether you hate it or love it, it’s an excuse to dress up and spend some time with your SO, or dress down and chill with your gal pals. I personally like to relax with my friends, order some pizza, and watch a movie, preferably Harry Potter. All of the shops in downtown State College are decorated adorably that it made me want to buy cute gifts for the boyfriend that I don’t have. Whatever, that just means that I can buy more things for myself!
I went to a flower shop called Woodring’s and I felt like I was in my grandmother’s house. It was so welcoming, decorated with beautiful bouquets of flowers and little knick-knacks that were calling my name! They also had some cool succulents in the back of the shop, I felt like I was transported to a greenhouse in the summer time. I definitely want to buy some plants to put in my dorm in the spring time, just to liven up my dreary room. I bought a rose just ‘cuz and when I brought it back to my room my roommate thought that I had a valentine, HA.
Anyway, my outfit for this shoot was really casual. You could wear this if you were going on a day date with your special someone, or if you were just hanging with the girls. I picked one of my favorite styles of t-shirts: the baseball tee. I really love the cut of this shirt. I think it is really flattering for the shoulders. It has a similar affect to your shoulders like a halter would, it makes them look more strucuted and wider, if that’s what you’re going for. I have pretty narrow shoulders and I also have bad posture, so this shirt makes my shoulders look a little better! I literally have about 5 baseball tee styled shirts and I wear them year round. This one is just a classic black and grey one from H&M. It has a little bit of a high-low thing going on, which makes it ideal for wearing with leggings.
My pants are just plain black khakis from Target. They used to be longer, but the dryer had other plans when I was doing my laundry, oh well. I kinda like the ankle length pants, they allow for cute socks like my pink striped ones to shine. My grey oxfords are also from Target. They are SERIOUSLY the most comfortable shoes I own, and they’re fashionable! I put my hair in a classic pony-tail braid, probably my go-to look for second-day hair. Wow, that’s a lot of hyphens in one sentence!
The next shop we went to was called Nittany Quill and I think I’ve found my weakness in life: stationary. The little shop was filled with cute little notebooks and pens and bookmarks and notepads and cards and ugh it’s amazing. The owner was so nice when I asked if I could take picture in her shop. She showed me the beautiful wedding invitations that they make and talked about the invitation trends, which I didn’t even know existed! (In case you’re wondering, the decorated inside of envelopes is HUGE right now, along with textured paper.) She even let me wax-seal an envelope! She said, “This would be so cute for your blog!” and she was totally right. The store had a cute little corner that had large maps and an amazing chandelier that I want to put in my room! The walls were intricately decorated and the shop had a very cozy feel.Of course I lost my mind when I saw the Kate Spade section, all of her items are too cute. I bought some notepads because they are essential to me! I make lists allllll the time, and they had a nice perforated edge for a clean cut. That’s the stuff that really makes me happy, guys.
